We cannot talk about Kamakura without seeing the Great Buddha in Kotokuin Temple. This bronze statue was cast in 1252 and now is the symbol of Kamakura. The height is as high as 13.35m including the base. Firstly you would be overwhelmed by the awesome sight. Also you can enter the inside the Buddha with an extra 20 yen. #2. Hokokuji Temple
Hokokuji Temple in Kamakura is famous for its beautiful bamboo garden and is also called as bamboo temple.
There is a tea house inside. If you pay an extra 500 yen in addition to entrance fee 200 yen, you can enjoy fresh green tea and some sweets in a very special atmosphere, surrounded with fascinating bamboo.

Zeniarai Benten Ugafuku Shrine is one of the famous shrine in Kamakura and located in a cave. The special point about Zeniarai Benten Ugafuku Shrine is that it is believed the water there have the power to bring good luck with money. So when you visit, please wash your money in holly water there and wish yourself good luck. You might think Why starbukcks? However the Starbucks branch in Kamakura is very unique designed in a wooden Japanese style. The branch was build on the former residence of Ryuichi Yokoyama, famous manga artist and now is famous as one of the nicest cafes in Japan.
They have not only standard tables or sofas, but also a high ceiling, open space faces the garden, and even the pool. In spring season you can enjoy coffee, seeing cherry blossoms tree in the garden.This must be special relaxing moment.

#7. Ceramics in a Japanese Old Style House

Hasedera Temple is located along the slope of a hill and you can overlook Yuigahama Beach and Kamakura. This temple is also known as flower temple for its beautiful gardens and flowers. Especially 2,500 Hydrangea of 40 different varieties in early summer is gorgeous. Every season has different attraction and red leaves illuminated in autumn is also beautiful. A big wooden statue of Kannon (goodness of mercy) has 11 faces is famous and worth seeing.

Komachidori street is a shopping street between Kamakura station and Tsurugaoka hachimangu Shrine. There are many souvenir shops and unique foods shops as big pancakes , chocolate croquette, soft ice cream flavored with purple potatoes etc. Octopus dumplings with whitebait is unique to Kamakura and popular for tourists. #18. Enoden Kamakura High School Station
At Enoden Kamakura High School Station, there is a very famous railroad crossing which is used in many dramas, movies, video clips and anime etc. The most famous one is the opening scene of the anime “Slam Dunk” and a lot of people visit this station to take pictures of the crossing with the ocean view in the background. Actually this place was chosen as one of the top 100 rail destinations in the Kanto region for its scenery.
