Heart Lake in Erimo – Autumn

Lake Toyoni

Lake Toyoni is a small lake which length of the perimeter is just 1 km and 260-270m high at Toyonidake. Lake Toyoni is well known because of its shape. The shape of Lake Toyoni is heart, so the lake is also called “Heart Lake.” You have to see the landscape from a birds-eye view to confirm the shape. The only options to see the lake were chartering helicopter or airplane, climbing Numami-toge or hoping for a miracle to get a chance to see it from the window of an Airplane flying between Haneda-Tokyo Airport and Tokachi-Obihiro Airport by good fortune.

The travel agency JTB Corporation started a helicopter tour for viewing autumnal foliage during the period from the middle of September to the beginning of October since 2015. It costs 13,000 yen per adult (including tax) and 10,000 per child (including tax) to charter the helicopter with 3 seats for 6 minutes and you have to book and deposit for the tour beforehand. The precious scenery of Heart Lake surrounded by beautifully colored leaves of trees will make a romantic time for a couple.
