5 Things You Cannot Miss in “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka opened the Harry Potter theme park called "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" in the summer of 2014. Here are 5 things you must do in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at USJ!

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka opened the world’s second Harry Potter theme park called “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in the summer of 2014. This year, they offered new magical experiences and attract a great deal of attention from all ages. Here are 5 things you must do in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at USJ!

 

 #1. Visit The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is recreated on a grand scale near the big black lake. Inside Hogwarts, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in 4K3D”, the main attraction of this area, launched.

3D and 4K technology is used on this attraction and it makes this attraction more thrilling. The queue will always be long, but while you are queuing, you can explore the Gryffindor common room, Dumbledore’s office and the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom! You must be at least 122cm tall to ride alone.

If you don’t like thrill rides or you happen to be below 122cm tall, “Hogwarts Castle Walk” is waiting for you! You can go through the Moving Portrait Corridor and see The Portrait of the Fat Lady.

 

#2. Fly the skies on the Hippogriff

Next to Hogwarts, Hippogriff will take you to a short sky trip. You can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hagrid’s hut from the back of Hippogriff. This attraction is family-friendly. You must be at least 122cm tall to ride. If you are not 122cm but above 92cm tall, you may ride with someone who meets the 122cm requirement.

 

#3. Get your wand and use real magic

If you want to use magic, go to Ollivanders and get a magical wand. With your own magical wand, you can creates flames or make it snow all around you. This attraction began in April 2016.

Also the new show called “Wand Study” could help you deepen your knowledge of magic. You can see the students of each of the four Hogwarts houses practicing spells. There’s no doubt that you will be fascinated by the real wonderful magic!

 

#4. Drink Butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks

If you want to rest or feel hungry, drop in at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade which is favored by all the people of Hogwarts, even by professors. High ceilings, wooden stairs, and rusty balconies… What a perfect atmosphere it is! You can grab a mug of Butterbeer (non-alcoholic) or try a bottle of pumpkin juice for a quick refresher.

They also offer various kind of British food such as Fish & Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Chocolate Trifle, Shortbread and so on. If you’re in a group of more than 4 people, ordering Great Feast (a bowl of salad, smoke chicken, pork rib, corn, roast potato) could be the best idea.

 

#5. Meet the students of the Wizarding World

On the stage of Hogsmeade, students of the Wizarding World hold the shows frequently.

“Frog Choir” will be held by students of the four Hogwarts houses (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw). They sing a range of familiar wizarding songs accompanied by croaking frogs.

In addition, you’ll have a chance to meet students of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang in the show called “Triwizard Spirit Rally”. They are staying in Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament and let us watch the beautiful and powerful performances. If you want to watch the show clearly, it’s better to secure a place near the stage before starting the show.
