5 Fun Amusement Theme Parks in Hokkaido for Family Adventure

Although there is no huge theme park such as Disney Resort and Universal Studio in Hokkaido, there are some unique theme parks where you can enjoy playing and indulge in original worlds.

#1. Doraemon Waku Waku Sky Park

Doraemon Waku Waku Sky Park is located at New Chitose Airport Terminal. As you may know, Doraemon is one of the famous and popular comics and animes in the world, especially in Asia. The park includes park zone, free zone for kids, library, workshop, cafeteria, amusement zone and shop. You are required to pay admission fee, but other areas are free of charge.

In the park zone, there are attractions of Doraemon’s tools that you can feel like you are in the world of Doraemon. Of course, you can meet Doraemon and other characters in the world.

Hello Kitty Happy Flight is the theme park newly opened in New Chitose Airport Terminal. The theme of the park is World Trip with Sanrio characters. Hello Kitty, the flight attendant of the “Kitty Jet” is going to navigate you to a tour around the world. You will visit countries all over the world to meet Sanrio characters. It should be exciting to find which character lives in your country.

Certainly, shop where you can buy Sanrio goods, cafeteria and space for kids are available. There are some original goods only available there. If you are a Sanrio fan, you should get one for your souvenir.

#3. Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura

Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura, which is located in the hot spring area,  is a theme park of the Edo Period in Japan. You will feel like that you become a time-traveler from present-day to Edo Period. In the park, you can watch the spectacle Ninja shows and elegant Oiran dancings. There are many places that people from children to old can play.

The most noteworthy spot is the place to experience Shuriken because the place you can try throwing Shuriken is limited even in Japan. If you would like to study about Edo Period, you can visit resource centers which exhibit Ninja tools including the swords, Shuriken and others, view rebuilt samurai’s mansion and Japanese Garden, and go to the observation tower where you can view whole park. You can wear costumes of Samurai, Ninja, Princess and Maiko and take photos with additional charge. It will be the great memory because you feel like being  in the Edo Period.

#4. Shiroi Koibito Park

Have you ever heard of Shiroi Koibito? It is the name of confectionery that cookies sandwiched together with white chocolate. As Shiroi Koibito is the representative confectionary of the company Ishiya Seika, they named the park after the product.

In the park, you can watch the part of confectionery factory, experience making sweets, see antique toys at the museum and view rose garden in summer and illumination in winter. Of course, you can have an elegant coffee or tea break with their original sweets at the cafeteria which is equipped with English antique furniture, and buy original goods and new-made sweets at the shop. Shiroi Koibito flavored  soft cream is the one of the sweets to be recommended because its taste is rich and you cannot eat it elsewhere.

Sapporo Ramen Republic is the place where you can enjoy and compare various Ramen of top 8 Ramen noodle restaurants in Hokkaido. The park features its retro-flavored structure with old Japanese street. There is a place to take a rest when you become full.
