Kitte Tokyo is a business and commercial complex building located less than one minute from Tokyo station’s “Marunouchi South Exit”. There are some symbolic features to the building that represent the original Tokyo Station. The original building used to be a post office and it was built in 1933.  In 2013, it was renovated and preserved into Kitte Tokyo.

The exterior structure and design of the original architecture were unchanged and the interior was renovated into a modern commercial complex. A high-rise building was also constructed above for business use. The name of this building “Kitte” means “postal stamp (Kitte 切手)” in Japanese.

This commercial complex might look similar to another one of those modern complex buildings that you can find anywhere in Tokyo, but the rooftop gardens are a must visit. Though this rooftop gardens is located on the 6th floor of the building, which might sound not so high enough to achieve panoramic view of Tokyo, you will be impressed by the scenery of the surrounding high-rise buildings and the beautiful architecture of Tokyo Station’s main building. The contrast of nature with green gardens and the modern concrete towers is also an interesting spectacle to enjoy. Though Kitte Tokyo is just one minute from Tokyo Station, please carefully look at the exit name, “Marunouchi South Exit”, since Tokyo Station is a very large and complex it could become a maze for those who have never visited. So, just remember the exact exit name then everything should be easy to find.
