Odaiba is a man-made island in the Tokyo Bay and was developed into a business and commercial district with modern buildings in the late 1990’s. It has shopping malls, parks, and a man-made beach, etc. Odaiba is a pleasant place to wander around with family and friends on weekends.

Daiba Icchome Shotengai is a small amusement and entertainment theme park in Odaiba that shows retro Japanese shopping and arcades from the 1950’s to 1990’s with vintage videos, games, and candy stores etc.

Daiba Icchome Shotengai is in the forth floor of Decks Tokyo Beach which is a multistory mall that has retro arcade games. Do you remember the table games that every kids used to enjoy in the 1970’s? Here, you can find and play many classic games. Those who used to love playing famous games such as Space Invaders, Packman, and Xevious, will be excited to find them in the classic table game styles that you can rarely find anywhere.

Have you heard about Dagashiya? Dagashi is a type of cheap candy and snacks popular among Japanese people of all ages. The tradition of Dagashi started in Edo period in the 17th century in Japan. At that time, snacks and candies were made with cheaper ingredients to replace high quality sweets and confectioneries that required high price refined white sugar. After the post-war period in Japan, Dagashi became even more popular among kids, they could buy Dagashi with their pocket money. Dagashi can be found at many convenience stores and they are all under 100 yen.

Do you know what takoyaki is? It is a very popular Japanese street food usually find at food stands. takoyaki is made with eggs, flour, green onions, some ginger, and small pieces of fresh octopus. It is grilled into a ball using a takoyaki machine and it is served with special takoyaki sauce and mayonnaise on top. At the Takoyaki Museum at Decks Tokyo Beach mall, there are many famous takoyaki stands that you can try and compare tasty takoyaki that you definitely will love.

If the weather is nice, you can go and take a walk at Daiba Marine Park located right in front of Decks Tokyo Beach mall. This is a man-made beach with a park that is perfect for enjoying the nice sea breeze. The spectacular view at night is also beautiful with a panoramic of Rainbow Bridge and the high-rise buildings light up Tokyo Bay.
