If you are in the mood for some furry fun in one of the most popular cities in Tokyo, come check out Cat Cafe MoCHA. Cat Cafe MoCHA has a few stores in Tokyo, but in December 2016 MoCHA opened a new branch in Takeshita Street in Harajuku, so we decided to go and see what all the fuss was about!
When you walk in, you are greeted by a friendly shop assistant and a few lockers on the side for you to place your belongings during the stay. All guests have to wear slippers inside the cafe just like most places in Japan that don’t require shoes.
Ten minutes in this cat paradise costs 200 yen, so if you stay an hour it costs 1,200 yen. There are a few simple rules to follow while you are with the cute cats. Guests are not allowed to pick up the cats or use a flash when taking pictures and most importantly, absolutely no human food for these friendly furballs.
When you walk past the lockers there is a hand washing station for you to clean up. Keep in mind all guest must sanitize and or wash their hands before going into the cat room, gotta be safe.
Through this door you are greeted by the kitties. Since this is a new branch of the MoCHA franchise, all of the cats are still kittens.
So if you are looking for adult cats, you might want to check out their other branches.
Immediately after opening the door, you are so overwhelmed by the cuteness of the kittens.
Even in the hallway there are spots for cats to lay on and play around. Look at this little lion!
Look at that blissful face, it’s so comforting.
Upon entering the right side of MoCHA, there is room that Alice in Wonderland themed. If you stay still long enough, some of the kitties will come over to play with you.
There were cats crawling everywhere around the tree. They were going crazy, running up and down the tree!
Since they are kittens, they need to stay warm during the winter. Who wouldn’t wanna cuddle up with this cutie and his blanket?
The room to the left of the hallway is very bright and there is a gaint cat tree. The bright cat tree room has much more space for humans so it’s a good place to move around with the kitties.
Take a look at those big eyes! Even though they are babies, they can still jump around on the cat tree.
It seems like the kitties are getting along. They were very playful and wanted attention.
If you go to MoCHA in the evening or morning, you might be able to see the cat feeding frenzy. The kitties immediately knew it was feeding time and they all rushed over. Their feeding time is at 10:30 AM and 7:30 PM, so be sure to head over during these times.
After getting your fill of playing with the kittens, proceed back to the lockers, pick-up your stuff, wash your hands, and pay for the amazing time you had at Cat Cafe MoCHA.
