Taiko Chaya is located near Asakusabashi Station in Tokyo. During lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a wide variety of seafood along with noodles or rice.
Lunch time is from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Since Taiko Chaya is a popular restaurant there is usually a line out the door. There is two sets of queues to wait in, 11:30 AM and 12:40 PM. If you miss your chance to get the ticket, you can’t enter the restaurant till after 1:00 PM.
The lunch buffet includes,
· Sashimi (tuna, yellowtail, salmon, bonito, roe, etc.)
· Seafood (shrimp, oysters, crab, scallops, etc.)
· 5 kinds of side dishes (salad, bean sprouts, onion, cauliflower, macaroni)
· 2 types of side dishes (grilled, cooked, etc.)
· Rice and sushi rice
Hot tea and hot water
· Raw eggs, seaweed
· Different sauces
· Fruit dessert
Within 50 minutes, customers have all access to all of the food at the buffet. This is a great opportunity to eat delicious seafood.

Taiko Chaya has been opened for 34 years, the open-style kitchen means guests can clearly see the chef cutting the fish for the sashimi. At 5:00 PM the restaurant turns into an izakaya. At 7:00 PM there is a little show, a very large piece of tuna is sliced up and served to guests.
The tuna is so fresh, just looking at it will make your mouth water. To be sure there is no cross contamination, different tongs are used for everything.
All of the delicious fish is pilled high, its waiting for you.
This fish must be very delicious because it is almost gone. You know it good when the locals eat it up.
Once another platter of fresh fish is brought out, the customers rush to get a piece. Tuna seems to be more popular than salmon.
50 minutes at a seafood buffet can go by in a second, be careful not to over eat at this awesome restaurant.
Although it is a buffet, you could be charged an extra 500 yen if you eat too much.
There is two types of seating areas, normal tables and shoes off tables where guests sit on the ground. If there is only a group of two, you might be sitting next to a stranger.
If you love seafood, especially sashimi, then you must visit Taiko Chaya in Asakusabashi, but because the restaurant will be closed at 2:00 PM, remember to get there as early as possible otherwise you may not eat.
