Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen
The Moomin themed park in Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen is located north of Tokyo in the Saitama Prefecture of Japan. From central Tokyo it might seem far but the journey is actually quite easy and pretty fun. Starting from Ikebukuro Station it is a 45 minute train ride on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line to Motokaji Station and a 15 to 20 minute walk to Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen.
After arriving at Motokaji Station exit to the right. Visitors will pass by the Enshoji Temple and go over a bridge. From the bridge visitors can be clearly see the Iruma River
with the cherry trees in full bloom and grassy landscapes.
Slow down for a minute and visitors can catch the train passing over the beautiful Iruma River in Saitama.
Make a right and walk another 10 minutes passed the Stadium and visitors will almost be at the Moomin Themed Park.
During Cherry Blossom Season, the right side of the park has cherry trees in full bloom. You won’t find many tourists around these areas. With the breeze blowing, the petals gently drift across the beautiful panoramic view.
Climb the bridge along the road and on the left hand side is the Moomin Themed Park. In addition to cherry trees, a lot of autumn and winter trees are planted. Visitors can imagine a beautiful scene during the autumn season.

After Crossing the bridge near the Stadium you will see a clear sign directing you towards the Moomin Themed Park in Saitama.
The Moomin Themed Park is free to visit and is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day with a few exceptions for national holidays.
About 20 years ago at Akebono Kodomo no Mori Koen the Moomin Themed Park was opened with the aim of bringing the fairytale life of Moomin to life in hopes to enrich the lives of the children. There aren’t any restaurants around so be sure to pack a lunch!
At the Moomin Themed Park in Saitama Japan there are three main Moomin themed buildings. Moomin’s house is one of the main buildings where visitors can go an visit Moomin’s house in real life! The interior design is quite unique and true to Moomin’s home of the cartoon.
Moomin’s Home at the Mooming Themed Park in Saitama Japan is two stories. The first floor has a fireplace while the second is set up to be like a studio.
There is a spiral wooden stair case that allows visitors to look down onto the first floor and really enjoy the cartoon like atmosphere of Moomin’s House.
From here visitors can see the unique buildings of the Moomin Themed Park in Saitama Japan.
A few meters away from Moomin’s House looks like it was pulled right out of a fairytale.
After visiting the home, you can see the blue hut next to the pool, pointed-style roof which exudes the fairytale atmosphere.
Along the bridge visitors can go into the blue hut! The blue hut is just outside Moomin’s House near the gurgling streams which paints a picture of beautiful scenery much like an oil painting.
Along the road the river connected by a red bridge with a simple yet artistic design that ads to the cartoon-like atmosphere.
On the other side of the bridge across from Moomin’s House and the Children’s Theater are a few more unique buildings.
The Wooden Homes of the Moomin Themed Park
Down the road visitors can see the Wooden Homes of the Moomin Themed Park. There there are 2 floors. The first floor is the information display area and the second floor is the children’s picture book reading area.
On the first floor there are a few beautiful collections of Moomin figures.
The second floor of the book reading area has placed wooden tables and chairs and also a large floor where can also sit anywhere. The quiet atmosphere can be enjoyed with various Moomin books.
The Children Theater
The last major building in the park is the Children Theater. Every month the theater will hold small-scale performances and activities of which can be found on the official website.
